Joe
I want to be a cinematographer within the HETV drama and film industry as I am a technical and creative person I have been a part of Futures in Film since the start of 2023. In that time I have developed a unique skill set and gained in-depth knowledge by being able to get hands-on with industry standard equipment and on-set experience. I believe that the value that Futures in Film holds is immeasurable and the doors it unlocks provide great opportunity for its participants and the Industry.
Alana
I aspire to work on the MR Helix systems to become a gimbal and stabilisation Technician and operator. I have been involved with Futures in Film since October 2022. I have helped re-organise the kit room and curate an inventory system that will allow us to proceed as a Social Impact Rental House. Having Autism and ADHD used to make it difficult for me to remain in ‘regular’ jobs. Futures in Film has really helped me to navigate around my disability whilst also enabling me to help pave the way for others like me to have better opportunities within the HETV and Film Industry.
Amir
I aspire to be a Director of Photography and Futures in Film has allowed me a realistic way into achieving my goals within HETV and Film. I have been with Futures in Film from the start of 2023, within that time I have worked on several productions with industry professionals as well with industry standard equipment. The hands-on approach of Futures in Film has meant alot to me as I learn much better this way and I feel that I am being provided with everything that I need to succeed in the Industry.
Tom
I want to be involved with the sound department. Mainly, I love the different challenges that being a part of the sound department can bring, and how to achieve different effects even with the equipment you use. My involvement with Futures in Film has been ongoing since February 2023. In that time I’ve worked on a number of projects, helping out the NW community, training in a virtual production environment and attending Industry events in London. Futures in Film gives me an outline to learn practically and get hands-on experience with industry standard equipment. This way of learning works for me as I struggle with Dyslexia.
Tye
My goal is to become an editor. I started in early 2023 when I joined, working as an editor for multiple projects, taking part in workshops and working with clients in order to improve my skills and knowledge The experience here is one of a kind I feel. From what we have done, the people we met, the equipment used, and what we have learnt, I could only get this sort of experience here as I continue to learn.
Ateeb
I would like to be in the camera department as a camera assistant. The camera department is very technical. I am a hands-on person so I find the department quite enjoyable. I became a part of the initiative at the end of 2022. Futures in Film ran a workshop at my University for individuals to get a better understanding of the film industry and receive on-set experience. I have been able to learn and operate industry standard equipment such as Arri, Panavision and Red cameras and more technologies from other departments which I would not have the opportunity otherwise. The initiative has helped me gain practical experience by allowing me to observe and learn from experienced professionals in a real world setting, for which I am truly grateful for.
Damon
I want a career as a camera assistant, either in Film or HETV. I enjoy technical job roles and take pleasure in building different camera rigs. I have been with Futures in Film since the start of 2023. I have spent this time as a camera trainee, developing my knowledge on industry equipment. During this experience I had opportunities to learn new skills and access equipment I would never have had access to before this. I have worked in a virtual production environment with industry professionals such as Julian White which has been invaluable experience. I am currently in my third year of university studying Filmmaking and I’m due to graduate and Futures in Film is helping me prepare for the real industry and open up work opportunities and the chance to network with the real players of the industry.
